Role Responsibilities:

As an integral part of TRIANA Biomedicine’s discovery team, this candidate will be a medicinal chemistry leader, driving programs from hit generation to candidate selection.  The individual will be responsible for co-leading project teams, designing compounds, devising chemistry strategy, and the managing of external resources.  The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate solid communication skills, perform well in a collaborative and dedicated work environment, form cross-functional relationships, and exhibit creative problem-solving skills. 

Qualifications:

  • Clear understanding of all aspects of compound optimization including synthetic chemistry, structure-based drug design, ligand-based drug design, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, and toxicology.

  • Ability to consistently identify landmark improvements in SAR.

  • Solid working knowledge of silico design tools.

  • Experience in managing external CROs to enable efficient execution of synthesis.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and devised innovative approaches to support drug discovery activities and accomplish project objectives. Experience in several small molecule modalities/MOAs would be a plus.

  • Expected to collaborate with legal teams to establish intellectual property strategy and lead the preparation of patent documents, peer reviewed scientific publications, and regulatory documents, as appropriate.

  • Excellent understanding of the drug discovery process and experience in advancing small molecules from hit identification to high quality candidates is highly desirable.

  • Experience in program team leadership or as a scientific discipline lead.

  • A clear and effective communicator able to present project strategy and progress to internal and external collaborators and stakeholders.

  • Experience managing timelines and external chemistry resources to deliver on time projects toward key decision criteria with an emphasis on high quality outcomes.

  • Demonstrated leadership in drug discovery with track record of significant contributions to innovative drug discovery projects, exemplified by a consistent record of patent inventorship and publications.

  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with people across cultures and orientation, fostering collaboration across teams, organizations, and geographies.

Education/experience:  

PhD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or related discipline with 8+ years of drug discovery in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry or BSc/MSc in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or related discipline with 12+ years of drug discovery in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
